I am a member of ActionCOACH’s Sounding Board program, which includes an annual planning module called GrowthCLUB. Through this program we have been developing a comprehensive plan for our business, which has been a great benefit in ensuring that we have focused goals and strategies and accountabilities for the current year.
For our 2010 plan, the Calasanz Management Team (Calasanz Martinez, Jeff Prescott and myself) agreed that we wanted to continue our tradition of supporting local charities. We have long supported the belief that businesses should give back to the communities in which we live and operate, which is consistent with the objective of doing well by doing good. Consequently, we decided to sponsor a unique challenge for our students that also provides them an opportunity to involve other members of the community.
On June 5, we will be hosting Train Like a Fighter (without fighting) for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and also offering seminars and exhibitions that will raise funds for the Red Cross’ efforts in Haiti. All of the proceeds from this day will go directly to the two organizations.
9am-11am: “Train Like a Fighter” for Leukemia – Participants will get pledges of at least $100 and come in to do a 2 hour “Fighters Workout” in honor of those fighting these terrible blood cancers
11am – On: 3-4 Seminars on Martial Arts and Fitness + Boxing, Kickboxing, and Jujitsu Fights!!!
$20 at door for all events scheduled

It’s going to be a great event and we have a number of great sponsors, including ActionCOACH of CT. I hope you will attend and either participate directly or enjoy the great programs we have planned for the day. In addition to ActionCOACH, we are asking other members of the business community to support these important causes.
