5 Ways To Get Noticed: Marketing Your Business

Getting Noticed: Marketing Your Business

1.) Blog like an “A Lister”
What is considered an “A List” Blogger – quality of content, number of visitors, number of subscribers, etc.

How do you blog like an “A Lister” to get your business noticed?  Write, Write, Write….Write consistently about your niche. Make sure the content is quality, informative and I believe short and sweet -  300 words or less.  Sure – you can have long blog entries, but beware that you may loose your readers interest.

2.) Combine Business with Pleasure and Charity
Spearhead an event or seminar for a cause that is close to your heart.  For example in an interest to help local companies market their business we are hosting an Business Networking Event on May 10th at the Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk.  100% of all the net proceeds for this event are going to the Childrens Museum which we feel provides a wonderful service to children in the community.  So the event is 3 fold – we are providing businesses with an outlet to promote themselves, we get noticed and the net proceeds go to the museum.

3.) Get Noticed by the Media
Editorial features convey more credibility with prospective clients than paid advertising does. Create a fresh timely story to obtain interest and coverage  from the local media i.e.  the town newspaper,  local TV – Channel 12 news, radio stations etc.

You can get noticed other ways too.  We thought we would share a few examples for fun:

Stunts:The waterskiing squirrel. Although some stunts have become cliche, waterskiing squirrels or other pet tricks still command attention.

The Flub: While it takes more effort to find the right venue, blowing an answer on live television or anything that looks remotely like a spontaneous man-on-the-street interview is big business. Take a look as Kelly Pickler takes blowing an answer to another level as she gracefully throws out about a half a dozen incorrect answers.

4.) Create Strategic Alliances: Join forces with two or more businesses that market to the same audience, but do not compete and accomplish more together. If you pool your resources and expertise, your businesses can offer added value to each others customers and prospects. The key is to choose to work with the right relationship partner, someone who has similar core values and has the desire to grow their business as well as your partnership.

5.) Stay in Touch with Your Customers:  We say this all the time, but it’s always worth repeating.  Keeping your current customers is key – repeat customers is great for business.  Create a newsletter, send reminder notices i.e. Spring Clean Up Time is Here, thank you cards, birthday cards…..etc.  Keep in touch with your current customers at least once a quarter.  Offer an incentive for referrals from current customers i.e. Refer a friend and save $30 off your next service.
