Business Coaching Tip: Secrets to a Successful Marketing Campaign
We polled 44 successful business owners at our last 90 Day planning session and asked them what were essential elements to ensure a successful marketing campaign and this is what they said:
- Know everything there is to know about your target customer
- Have a clear and well-defined Unique Selling Proposition
- Have clear and well defined goals (multi-channel; multi-media; clear/simple message; company and product image and branding; sequential process)
- Know your Return On Investment metrics and track them throughout the campaign
- Make your campaign repeatable and scalable
- Follow up with prospects (use “thank you” cards and other devices)
- Offer incentives (so long as you know your Gross Margin and your cost of acquiring a customer)
- Get feedback and referrals from customers
- Demonstrate “thought leadership” to show that you are the best (walk the walk)
- Social networking
- Use buzzwords that are appropriate for your product or service
- Stay visible with your prospects using tools appropriate for your marketplace
- Have multiple touches
- Have good quality leads – make sure you qualify them up front
- Track your conversion rate
- Make sure all of your services are known to your target customer
- Measure failure as well as success – know why something didn’t work just as much as why something did…
- Understand the seasonality of your product or service
- Cross-selling and upselling through your marketing to give your clients a reason to come back
- Follow up with customers
